Why Won't the Mainstream Media Give Herman Cain a Fair Shot?
As the race for the 2012 Presidential Campaign is now beginning, with the Republican Presidential debates in full swing, I am confused as to why Herman Cain is being shunned by the Lamestrea m media? Especially in light of his very credible presentation in the last debate, and in light of his Florida Straw Poll victory gaining 37% of the 2,657 votes cast, way ahead of runner up Rick Perry at 15.4%.
For the sake of full disclosure I am not a registered Republican, contrary to what many may say or think. I owe no allegiance to any political party. I am a Christian, and a 100% Conservative. When it comes to Presidential candidates, the first thing I look for is where they stand on abortion and same-sex marriage.
Mr. Cain’s bio is impressive; he has a Mathematics Degree from Morehouse College, a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Purdue University. He’s worked for the Department of the Navy as a civilian employee developing fire control systems for ships and fighter planes.
After that, he went to work for Coca-Cola, and then later on to the Pillsbury Corp., where he advanced to the position of Vice-President. He became the regional Vice-President for Pillsbury Burger King division, and later became the President and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, a company that was going under. In just 14 months he turned the company back to profitability, and eventually bought the company out.
There is no debate as it regards his business acumen, I mean the man has worked from the bottom to get to where he is today, which is more than some candidates can say and even perhaps the President, as I don’t call being a Community Organizer a job.
When it comes to his faith, this is what Mr. Cain has to say:
“Our Founding Fathers recognized a higher power in the formation of this nation when they said in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal and that they are ‘endowed with certain unalienable rights.’ It was no accident that in some of our earlier years as a free and independent nation, that our leaders added ‘In God we Trust’ to all of our currency.
And to send a message to the rest of the world when Communism was on the rise in the 1950’s, Congress added ‘Under God’ to our pledge of allegiance. They were not just words. It was a collective reaffirmation that we know the ultimate source of our greatness as a nation. America’s moral foundation does not need to be rewritten. It needs to be respected and taught to our children and grandchildren. It is the basis for our concept of freedom. As former President Ronald Reagan reminded us many years ago:
‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the blood stream. It must be fought for and protected and handed on for them to do the same. Or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and grandchildren what is used to be like in the United States when men were free.’
We are free because ‘In God We Trust’.”
I would encourage everyone to visit Mr. Cain’s website, www.hermancain.com, and read all of his positions on the issues of the day.
This has been the Musings and Ramblings of one who wants a change in Washington.
