Article: Function of the Holy Spirit

Genesis 1:1-2

It has been said that “The moving of the Holy Spirit is the first sign of life.”  Everything as it regards our born again experience is evidence of that great truth.

We were all born into sin and darkness, but the Holy Spirit moved and brought the Light of Jesus Christ into our lives.

Genesis 1:1-2 gives to us much more information than just the Creation of the world but as well we see how the Holy Spirit functions in the world, the Church, and in the lives of each Believer, if they truly allow Him to have His way.

Genesis 1:2, “The earth was without form and void of life.”  But then the Text says, “The Spirit of God moved.”  When the Spirit moved, that which was of no form and void of life immediately changed.  Order came out of chaos, light out of darkness.  The Holy Spirit in His operation brought change.  This is what the Holy Spirit desires in our Churches and our lives.  He wants to operate, He wants to move, He wants to bring life, faith, power and victory.

If the Holy Spirit is not allowed to have His Way in our Churches, then there is no reason to have Church, for His operation changes lives, heals the sick, mends the brokenhearted and satisfies the man’s heart.

Genesis 1:3 says, “And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.”  It is the job of the Holy Spirit to bring illumination to our lives.  He illuminates Truth, He gives guidance, He shows us the right path by illuminating Jesus Christ.  That’s His job to shine the Light of Truth upon Christ.

Genesis 1:4 says, “God divided the light from darkness.”  It is the function of the Holy Spirit to bring about separation from the world and from self.

It is a complete and total way of life.  Darkness speaks of sin and error, light speaks of Righteousness and Truth which is Jesus Christ.  We are to be separated unto Him and Him alone.

Genesis 1:21 tells us that God, through the Holy Spirit, created the Animal Kingdom.  The Holy Spirit creates a new life in us.  He creates us from death and a new man is brought forth.  He creates something out of nothing, He creates order out of chaos, life out of death, prosperity out of poverty.  The Holy Spirit creates.

Genesis 1:28 says of earth’s first inhabitants, “And God blessed them and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply.”  He gives us more, He multiplies to us more than we could ever hope for:  Justification, Sanctification, Blessings from above.  He multiplies the bread and fish to feed a multitude.  When the Disciples had fished all night and caught nothing, He said, “Launch out into the deep for a draught (catch).”  Where there had been no fish, He multiplied the catch that it not only filled up his boat but James and John’s boat also.  The Holy Spirit wants to multiply in our lives that which we need.

The Holy Spirit moved, let Him move in you and through you.  Let Him move in our Churches as days of old.  Let Him operate, let Him illuminate, let Him separate, let Him create, let Him multiply your loaves and fishes.

without the holy spirit guiding me I would have never made it this far just praying for my family to get baptised in the holy spirit. My husband and I have been going through some financial problems and my husband asks me how I can stay so calm and so peaceful about this situation and I said happily because I know god will provide and his holy spirit helps me to understand this. We just recently received help financially through the mail and my husband still is just amazed but I was not surprised because I know god provides and is greater than any problems we face in life!!!!!!!!! Praise god for Jesus and the holy spirit. Donnie we need more holy ghost preachers like you and your dad Jimmy Swaggart.
